Being gassed by my elderly labrador

I’m not a big Facebook user any more, but I quite enjoy the memories that come up from years ago.

The other day, one came up from 14 years ago - long before there was a photo news feed as we know it now, and people simply updated their status with text as to what they were up to at that moment.

Mine simply said, “Currently on the sofa with a bad knee being gassed to death by my elderly labrador”

Oh man, I miss my old boy, Hammer (his pedigree name was Sir Hamlet.)

I remember that day because I felt as if I couldn’t get away from his rotten old-man farts because it was too painful to move off the sofa.

But I still treasure all the moments I had with him because he was one of the best friends I’ve ever had.

He was the sweetest old boy, and he was never far from my side, even though sometimes I wished he’d leave a little more distance!

There’s a beautiful quote: "Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you will look back, and realise they were the big things." Robert Brault

If you feel as if your day could be going better - that you seem to be having more than your fair share of trials and tribulations, then look around you for the little things, because they’re the things you’d miss most if they were taken away from you.

Things like cuddling your smelly dog or stinky spouse, watching your favourite TV series, having coffee out of your favourite mug, laughing at your dad’s terrible jokes.

Considering your life is 99.9% made of tiny moments such as these, if you can learn to appreciate them more, then your life will be a whole lot happier.

It’s one of the reasons Kev and I incorporated a gratitude section in our 90 Day Breakthrough journal, where you get to tune into what you appreciate most every day - and it doesn’t have to be big stuff - the little things are just as important.

The only way you can get this journal is if you’re signed up to the programme - we don’t sell it separately.

If you feel you could do with a little more happiness and appreciation in your life every day, then I suggest you start your day with writing down three things you’re grateful for.
