My hypnotherapy tutor has been called a fascist by certain individuals in his field.
Why?
Because he only teaches hypnotherapy techniques that are backed by scientific research.
Not only that, he insists all his students do case studies on real human beings.
What an absolute sh*t, eh?
My class and I are all preparing to be let loose on our case studies in the next few weeks, and I’d like to say I was surprised when he told us this (sadly nothing surprises me much any more) but there are accreditation bodies in hypnotherapy who do not insist students demonstrate capability on real people before they’re signed off as competent professionals.
In some colleges, all you have to do is create a few hypothetical case studies to show you’ve read the course material.
Not only that, there are many cheap online courses people can do with only the briefest introduction to hypnotherapy, and they can set themselves up to take money from people.
It’s no wonder many people have poor experiences with hypnotherapy.
When I looked for a training provider, I made sure I found a well respected expert to teach me. I adopted the same approach when I trained to be a coach and it paid dividends.
Sometimes, the people who do the best work in the world tend to ruffle feathers because they stay true to what they believe in.
It can feel very uncomfortable upsetting people because our ancient tribal instincts tell us it’s in our best interests to keep everyone around us happy - in millenia gone by, being disliked and thrown out of the tribe meant certain death.
However, I think the opposite is true now.
If you try to keep everyone happy, then the person most likely to suffer is you.
It’s unlikely you’ll be able to keep everyone happy at the same time, so you need to figure out very quickly what you need to make you happy.
If you’re a business owner, that comes down to building a business you are proud of, and only working with people who value and respect you, whether they’re in your team or they’re your customers.
If you’re a business owner and your business is causing you stress, then get in touch and we’ll see if we’re a good fit to work together for one-to-one coaching.
I only have capacity for three new individual clients at the moment, so don’t hang about!
