I also feel lucky to work with a group of very inspiring clients. Recently, I wrote about how I’m currently training for a night hike up Snowdon at the end of the month, and how we’ve been told to prepare for a tough mental game trekking through the darkness.
One of my clients, Hope Elletson (who also happens to run one of the finest picture-framing businesses in the country - Picture Frames of Shaftesbury - check it out if you’re in the market to frame something special..) wrote to me saying this:
“You say: "There are no views to inspire you and no sunlight to warm you". Conversely, in those circumstances, and the worse the circs the more so: a break in the weather which allows a short glimpse of the stars as you just put one foot in front of the other, more than inspires - it creates a deep deep memory…”
This comes from a man who regularly goes on night hikes, and who also goes on wild expeditions across the world for fun. He’s one of the most interesting and inspiring people in my world.
He has reminded me that we get what we look for in life. If I go out expecting to have a hideous, gruelling time from start to finish, then that’s what I’ll get.
If I expect to have moments of sheer wonder, then I’ll be looking for them and no doubt get them.
The same is true for every aspect of your life, too!
